Sometimes when travelling, I see things like the beautiful flowers I posted the other day, or designs on walls, paintings, etc. that instantly turn into fantasy flowers, mosaics or other designs in my mind. Yes, I know, that sounds kind of crazy and maybe it is… 😉

I then draw these designs on a piece of paper and keep them. Until recently I had no idea what to do with them, but then I saw someone printing their own designs onto fabric. Since I work a lot with fabric, that seemed to be the perfect craft for me to try out.

I started reading books and instructions I could find on the Internet about how to print on fabric and all the different methods you can opt for. I chose to try out screen printing and this is what I made:

This is the fantasy flower design I had scanned in and redrawn with CorelDraw. Then I copied the motif a couple of times and changed the size until I felt this was good to be printed on a piece of fabric. Some of you might have seen a similar picture on Instagram, but I chose to continue on with this one:

I copied this onto a transparent foil with my normal ink jet printer. I had prepared my screen with foto emulsion before, so now I was ready to burn this picture onto the screen. I actually found my screen to be big enough to burn the same picture twice onto it.

Here is what it looks like when finished:

The last step is to lay this out on your fabric and flush fabric paint over it with a squeegee. I chose to use a pink colored linen fabric and just plain white color for printing. This is the pretty result :

 

Now, all that’s left for me to do is to sew something nice out of it 😉

Manchmal sehe ich auf Reisen hübsche Blumen, Ornamente oder Verzierungen z.B. an Hauswänden und Türen, die ich dann zeichne und in Fantasieblumen, Mosaike oder ähnliches umwandle. Ja, das klingt ein wenig verrückt und ist es vielleicht auch.

Dann zeichne ich diese auf Papier und bewahre sie auf. Bis vor kurzem hatte ich noch keine Ahnung, was ich damit anstellen soll, aber irgendwann bin ich über den sogenannten Siebdruck gestolpert. Dabei druckt man selbst gemalte (oder gekaufte, bäh) Bilder auf Oberflächen, wie z.B. Stoff. Und da ich ja so gerne mit Stoff arbeite, musste ich das unbedingt ausprobieren!

Ich habe mich in Büchern und Anleitungen über die verschiedenen Methoden informiert, wie man seine Ideen auf den Stoff bringen kann. Der Siebdruck hat mir dabei am besten gefallen und so bin ich dann dabei vorgegangen:

Diese Fantasieblume habe ich eingescannt und mit CorelDraw weiterbearbeitet bzw. abgemalt. Dann habe ich das Motiv einige Male kopiert, die Größe verändert, bis ich damit zufrieden war und es mir gut auf Stoff vorstellen konnte. Auf Instagram hatte ich auch schonmal ein ähnliches Bild gepostet, aber ich entschied mich jetzt hierfür:

Das Bild habe ich dann auf eine transparente Folie mit dem normalen Drucker kopiert. Meinen Siebdruckrahmen habe ich vorher schon mit Fotoemulsion präpariert, so dass ich das Bild jetzt nur noch „einbrennen“ musste. Der Siebdruckrahmen war dann sogar groß genug, dass ich dasselbe Bild gleich zweimal eingebrannt habe.

Und so sieht es aus, wenn es fertig ist:

Der letzte Schritt ist dann, den Rahmen auf den Stoff zu legen und geeignete (Siebdruck-)Farbe mit einem Rakel darüber zu streichen. Ich habe mich für pinkfarbenes Leinen und weißer Farbe entschieden. Das ist das hübsche Resultat:

 

Jetzt muss ich nur noch etwas hübsches daraus nähen! 🙂
